Product description: Finasteride 1mg is sold under the brand name Propecia and used to treat male pattern baldness (MPB). This medication is a synthetic antiandrogen, which works by inhibiting the type II 5-alpha reductase and preventing the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone.
At present, Finasteride 1mg is the only oral medication, which is FDA approved specifically for treating MPB in men. The larger 5mg dose is used in treatments of benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) and is sold as Proscar.
